Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers
 

Graduated Licensing Scheme (GLS) Workshop

All novice drivers in New South Wales including Learners, P1 (Red P), and P2 (Green P) drivers operate under the Graduated Licensing Scheme (GLS).

Georges River Council, in partnership with Transport for NSW, offers free workshops for parents, carers and supervising drivers of learner drivers. These workshops provide practical advice and guidance to help learner drivers gain experience, develop safe driving habits and build confidence on the road.

Workshop topics include:

  • How the NSW GLS works.

  • How the NSW Graduated Licensing Scheme (GLS) works.

  • The learner driver experience and common challenges faced by young drivers.

  • The role and responsibilities of a supervising driver.

  • Lesson planning and managing stress during driving practice.

  • Completing the Learner Driver Log Book.

  • Current road rules and licence requirements for Learner and Provisional (P1 and P2) drivers.

  • Strategies to help learner drivers develop safe driving behaviours and become confident solo drivers.
     

How Georges River Council Supporting Our Community?

Council partners with Transport for NSW to deliver learner driver education programs that help parents, carers and supervising drivers support young people in developing safe driving skills and behaviours.
