Council's Bushcare program helps protect and restore 188 hectares of bushland across the local area. The program supports native plants and animals, improves the health of local ecosystems, and creates safe habitats for wildlife.
 
Guided by the Bushcare Volunteer Charter, the program is committed to conserving, restoring and enhancing the natural environment through bush regeneration and community involvement.

Our bushland areas are cared for by Council's Bushcare Team, dedicated volunteers and specialist contractors. Together, they remove weeds, restore native vegetation and improve habitat quality for local wildlife.
 
Community members are encouraged to get involved through volunteer Bushcare sessions, planting days and environmental events. These activities help people connect with nature and build a greater understanding and appreciation of our local bushland.

Bushcare Corporate Program

Georges River Council's Bushcare Corporate Program fosters partnerships between the community, government and business to better manage Council's natural assets. 

Corporate volunteers are placed at project sites to participate in an environmental activity. This may include planting native species, removing weeds from bushland or cleaning up beaches, foreshores and reserves across the LGA. 

Corporate groups find this kind of program to be a good opportunity to raise community awareness of local environmental issues. It improves employee engagement by being part of something that is more than the work they undertake. Corporate volunteers will leave their Bushcare volunteering day with a better understanding of local biodiversity and environmental issues impacting our bushland reserves.
