Home builders and renovators

If you are building or renovating a home, submission of an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan is required before works begin. Ensure your builders are adhering to the rules. More information can be found on the Georges Riverkeeper website. Contact your local council or the NSW Environment Protection Authority for further consultation.

Developers and builders

If you are a developer or managing a building site, download a quick summary of the facts or consult the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage’s ‘Blue Book’ for detailed rules and guidelines.

 

From Friday 1 January 2021, the following types of building applications to Georges River Council must to be submitted using the NSW Planning Portal:

  • Construction certificates.
  • Complying development certificates.
  • Building information certificates.
  • Subdivision certificates.
  • Basix certificates.
  • Occupation certificates.

This method of submitting your building application will be available from 1 December 2020 and we encourage you to use this process for a more streamlined and efficient experience.
 
The NSW Planning Portal makes submitting building applications with Council simple with the convenience of being available online, anywhere and anytime.
 
Since 1 July 2020 applications for the following certificates and approvals to Georges River Council have been required to be submitted using the NSW Planning Portal:

  • Development Applications.
  • Applications to Modify Consents (s4.55 applications).
  • Review of Determination (s8.2 applications).

 Our commitment to customer service continues and we encourage applicants continue to use our pre-lodgement service for information and advice.

Payments for Planning Portal applications can be made via Council's Payments page.
 

Notices and Orders

An application can also be made to Council for a certificate which outlines whether any outstanding notices or orders have been issued for properties in the local area. For further information, please contact us
