Pothole Repairs and Damage Claims

Georges River Council maintains all local roads in our area. TfNSW manages the designated Main Roads. We are currently handling a high volume of pothole repair requests, which can only be addressed in dry conditions. Our team is prioritising repairs based on urgency and available resources. We appreciate your patience during this challenging period.

If you have noticed any potholes on our local roads, and you do not wish to submit a compensation claim, please submit a request using the form below.

It's important to note that under the NSW Civil Liability Act 2002, the Council has certain protections on pothole-related claims. We may be liable only if we were aware of the risk, did not address it within our resource limits, and acted with negligence.

Before Lodging a Claim

If your vehicle or property sustains damage due to a pothole, we recommend first contacting your own insurer. They may pursue a claim against the Council if they believe we are liable. Note that this might involve an initial excess payment, which could be waived if the claim is successful. Talk to your insurer about these options before claiming against the Council.

Should you believe the Council is responsible and wish to pursue a claim, you'll need to submit a formal Injury or Damage Compensation Claim Form.
