Have Your Say on How we Play – Draft Playspace Strategy Now Out

08/10/2026

Georges River Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on the draft Playspace Strategy, a 20-year plan for playspaces across the Georges River.

A playspace is any outdoor area designated for play and recreation. This ranges from small local and neighbourhood playspaces to larger regional destinations. Some playspaces are already well-loved and well-used. Others need renewal or upgrade to better meet the needs of the community.

The draft Strategy is led by four key principles:

  • Diversity of play.

  • Equitable distribution.

  • Sustainable investment.

  • Play for all.

This will guide how Council manages, improves and creates playspaces over the next 20 years.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “Georges River is home to many valued playspaces that bring families and communities together".

“As our community grows, we want to ensure these spaces are safe, inclusive and enjoyable for all.”

“I encourage everyone to have their say. Your feedback will help shape the future of our playspaces and ensure they continue to meet the needs of our community."

Public exhibition is open until 4 November 2026.
