Councillor Matthew Allison is serving his first term on Georges River Council. He was first elected in 2024.
He worked as a bush regeneration manager and has worked in many of Georges River Council’s bushland reserves. He helped set up the former Kogarah Council's Bushcare Program in 1997. He has been a Bushcare volunteer ever since.
Councillor Allison has been a resident of Oatley for nearly 30 years. He has been a member of Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society (OFF) for 25 years and has served on its committee. He played a key role in their tree planting efforts. He is also passionate about protecting and improving our remnant trees and biodiversity.
He is determined to increase canopy cover. He values Caring for Country to preserve nature for future generations. Councillor Allison was also a member of Friends of Glenlee. They advocated to the State Government to place a Heritage Order on the iconic property in Lugarno, before its sale. Councillor Allison encourages community members to join Council's Bushcare volunteer teams. It will create a healthier, richer future together.
Councillor Allison represents the Council on the Georges River Combined Councils Committee (GRCCC) and Georges Riverkeeper.
Councillor Allison is a member of the Environment and Planning Committee. He is also a member of the Community and Culture Committee.
