Profile and information

Councillor Gerard Hayes is serving his first term on Georges River Council. He was first elected following a countback process in 2025.

In the last ten years, Councillor Hayes has worked in employment services. He has also contributed to the Parklands Councils Inter-agencies in Western Sydney. He holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. He also ran a successful small business in facilities maintenance. He brings with him a wealth of experience in community engagement and service delivery.

Councillor Hayes first moved to Penshurst in 1973 and returned with his family in 2008. Since then, he has remained involved in the community. He has formerly served as a P&C President at Penshurst Public School.

Councillor Hayes is an active member of the Lugarno Lions Club and the Kingsgrove-Beverly Hills Branch of the Labor Party. He has a strong commitment to community initiatives. He also prioritises transparency and easier access to elected representatives. He aims to achieve real results that benefit the local community.

Councillor Hayes is a member of the Finance and Governance Committee. He is also a member of the Assets and Infrastructure Committee.
