Seniors Festival

The NSW Seniors Festival will be back in 2026!

Thank you for joining us as we celebrated the NSW Seniors Festival 2025, from Monday 3 March to Sunday 16 March. The 2025 theme was Time to Shine – an opportunity to celebrate seniors in the Georges River community and spotlight the organisations supporting our local community.

Council held events and promoted important initiatives throughout the two-week period to celebrate the local seniors community. Please view events below.
 

Community and Micro Grants information Session for Seniors

Three women smiling while sitting at a tableJoin us to learn more about Georges River Council's grants programs, with a focus on how to apply for the current round. This information session is free and held as part of NSW Seniors Festival and is designed specially for seniors or organisations running projects for seniors.

Date: Monday 3 March 2025
Time: 10.00am - 11.30am.
Where: Hurstville Library - Miles Franklin Room, Corner of Queens Road and Dora Street, Hurstville.
Cost: Free.

Seniors Expo

women smiling at Expo with a crowd of peopleThe Seniors Expo hosted dozens of stalls connecting seniors to resources, a seniors concert, informative workshops and demonstrations on safe and healthy ageing and interactive arts and Hurstville Museum & Gallery tours.

Date: Wednesday 5 March 2025
Time: 10.00am - 2.00pm.
Where: Hurstville Entertainment Centre, 16 MacMahon Street, Hurstville.
Cost: Free.

Baby Explorers (Special Grandparents edition)

Our Baby Explorers program is designed for parents and carers of babies 12 months and under for a guided tour of the current Main Gallery exhibition at Hurstville Museum & Gallery.

Date: Wednesday 12 March 2025.
Time: 10.15am - 11.30am.
Where: Hurstville Museum & Gallery, 14 MacMahon Street, Hurstville.
Cost: $5.25 per adult participant (babies and one grandparent are free).

Musical Morning Tea with Jonathon Eid

Jonathon Eid singingSinger/songwriter Jonathon Eid performed at a morning of songs, snacks, and socialisation. Performing classic hits from the 50s and 60s from Elvis Presley, Frankie Valli and The Beatles. The musical performance was followed by a light tea of biscuits, tea and coffee.

Time: 11.00am-12.30pm.
Where: Hurstville Library, Corner of Queens Road and Dora Street, Hurstville.
Cost: Free.

Library Information Sessions

An audience sitting on chairs and listening to an information sessionGeorges River Libraries had something for everyone during our Seniors Festival program. Attendees learnt about scams and how to recognise them,  what the Care Finder program has to offer and how to access Kanopy resources.

All sessions were free.
