​If you’re interested in insects, curious about creepy crawlies, or a burgeoning a bug boffin, you’re in for a real treat these holidays! Come to the library to learn about all things invertebrate in a hands-on workshop for 5 to 12 year olds featuring a variety of live and preserved minibeasts, and learn more about the diverse animal life that lives in our backyards every day without being noticed.

These sessions have limited numbers to enable all children to learn through participation, under supervision from experienced instructors in a safe environment. Please make sure you are available to attend the session before booking, and if this changes, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer spaces to people on the waitlist.

About the facilitator:
Travelbugs Mobile Minibeasts was founded in 2002 by former Taronga Zoo Senior Keeper Jacqui Love. Since then, the passionate science and environmental educators at Travelbugs have been bringing hands-on experiences with a variety of minibeasts to children all over Australia. All the creatures in their workshops come from their own lab in the Blue Mountains, or other ethical and sustainable breeders to ensure healthy, happy animals.

• All materials and equipment will be provided. 

• ​For participants aged 12 years and under, parents and/or guardians of children must remain in the library for the duration of the program. For safety reasons, one parent/guardian can only be responsible for a maximum of 4 children (1:4 ratio). 

• For participants under the age of 16, parent and/or guardian contact details must be provided at the time of booking. 

• If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue. 

• If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future. 

• The library does not endorse or promote any products which may be used in the workshop.
