Youth Week - Re-tread Bike Drop-offs and Workshops

Do you have an old bike or scooter you no longer need? Would you like a brief chat with a bike mechanic? Do you want to learn how to maintain your own bike? We have multiple bike focused events running for Georges River Council Youth Week!

  • Bike Drop-Off and Recycling 

Monday 14th - Thursday 17th April 8.00am - 11.00am.
Olds Park, Penshurst Holley Road entrance.

Residents of the Georges River area can drop off any old or unwanted bikes and scooters for free. Dropped off bikes and scooters are later repaired and redistributed or recycled and used for spare parts by Revolve Recycling.

  • Bike Maintenance Workshop

​Wednesday 16th of April 2.00pm - 4.00pm.
Mortdale Community Centre, Mortdale.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, a workshop is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about bike maintenance and repair. Workshop runs for 2 hours. Bookings are essential for the workshop only and can be booked via the button below.

  • Quick Bike Check and Tune Up

​Thursday 17th of April 3pm - 7.00pm.
GRYfest Olds Park Skatepark, Penshurst.

Do you have an old bike with minor issues or are unsure if it is worth fixing. You can chat with a bike mechanic to discuss how or where to fix it, or they may be able to fix the small issues on the spot.

Bring your standard bicycle down to GRYfest and be part of the action at our biggest Youth Week event! If our bike mechanics are busy when you arrive grab a ticket and come back. Please note time with the mechanics are limited to 15 mins per person.

Accepted Drop-off Items:

  • Bicycles.

  • E-Bikes.

  • Scooters.

  • E-Scooters.

  • Balance Bicycles.

  • Childrens Bicycles.

  • Childrens Tricycles.

  • Childrens Personal Transport Vehicles.

Bikes and scooters dropped off will be repurposed where possible. However, any items at the end of life will be taken apart and the individual components will be reused or recycled.
