School Holiday Workshop: Learn to Code a Video Game

Ever wanted to make your own video game? Make a start these holidays in this program for 12-17 year olds! Participants will be introduced to the basics of Unreal Engine, a free platform that allows you to make games for computers, consoles like Playstation and Xbox, mobile phones, and even create content for Fortnite.
Learn visual scripting to build your own world, create moving characters, keep score of points, and more.
About the facilitator:
Albert Ong is the founder of Tinkery, an edTech social startup aiming to make hands on learning accessible through creative prototyping kits and courses.
Albert has over a decade of experience as a hybrid mechatronics engineer, biotechnologist and interaction designer, and has worked on a range of industry and research projects ranging from art installations at Vivid Sydney, rehabilitative games and exoskeletons, bioreactors, drones, makerspaces, industrial robots, facility management systems, green architecture, and speculative and futures design projects.

A limited number of computers will be provided by the library. Participants who can bring a laptop with Unreal Engine installed on it to use during the workshop are asked to book a BYOD ticket, if available.

For participants under the age of 16, parent and/or guardian contact details must be provided at the time of booking.

If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.

If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future.
