Art Exhibition: Best Before by Clare O’Toole

This is a Council led event.

Clive James Library and Service Centre
31/05/2025 - 29/06/2025

Appreciate the artistry and nostalgia found in everyday pantry objects with works by painter Clare O’Toole.

Common items provide a focal point for people to share their experiences and nostalgia for common food products and their place in our lives while reflecting on the personal and collective experience of consumption.

About The Artist:
Clare is a multidisciplinary, self-taught artist working primarily in painting, sculpture, photography, and drawing. Creating still life compositions from everyday consumer products, my practice draws from my own pantry, grocery stores, and speciality stores to populate my works with iconic packaging of branded products. I use bold, vibrant colouring within my works, inspired by the subject matter and colour palettes of Pop artists such as Andy Warhol and David Hockney.

Works may be available for sale. For purchase enquiries contact Clare O’Toole at clareotooleart@gmail.com.

About the Community Art Space Program:
The Dragon’s Lair Gallery and the Clive James Library and Service Centre, Kogarah, provide opportunities for new and established local artists and groups with a connection to the Georges River area to display their works in a professional gallery space. These spaces are suitable for a wide range of mediums, including sculptures, paintings, photographs, and drawings.

Exhibitors are selected through an annual proposal process that is assessed by an Exhibitions Committee. Exhibitions are selected to reflect the dynamic and innovative diversity that exists in the Georges River area.
