Introduction to Creative Writing

If you want to be a writer, you need to write! This introductory course will help you start your writing journey and unleash your creativity with confidence. Writing teacher and author Aylish Dowsett will show you what you need to know to get your thoughts out and organised into a captivating story.
 
This course is for beginners who want to write but don’t know how or where to start. The skills you learn in this course can be applied to any genre and will help you turn your ideas into realities!

Please bring a pen and paper to participate in class exercises. 

About the Facilitator:
Aylish Dowsett is an award-winning writer, tutor, and copywriter. She teaches creative writing at The Writers’ Studio, The Writing Quarter, Creative Writing Ink, and St George and Sutherland Community College. Her work has been published in Mythrill Fiction, Collider, Honi Soit, Grapeshot, The Quarry, and many others. She loves cats and all things weird and British.

  • All materials and equipment will be provided. 

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue. 

  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future. 

  • The library does not endorse or promote any products which may be used in the workshop.
