Top-tier rugby league is making its return to the iconic Netstrata Jubilee Stadium for an electrifying NRL Pre-Season Challenge double-header on Sunday 16 February 2025.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will face off against the Wests Tigers, setting the tone for our local and mighty St George Illawarra Dragons to take on the Sydney Roosters in the following match. With star players returning and fresh talent ready to make their mark, this pre-season challenge offers a tantalising preview of what’s to come in 2025.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg expressed her excitement about hosting the event at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
“The Pre-Season Challenge marks the return of top-flight rugby league to our local area for the 2025 season.
“Events like these not only showcase our region but also highlight the importance of sport in fostering community spirit and excitement.”
Dragons CEO Ryan Webb highlighted the opportunity this event provides for fans to see their teams in action ahead of the upcoming season.
“At the start of the year, all fans are excited to see how their sides are shaping up for the upcoming season.
“To have four Sydney teams playing at our spiritual home on the one afternoon will be a great experience for everyone who attends.”
Dragons Head Coach Shane Flanagan shared his excitement for the trial.
“We’re excited for our first trial here at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium against the Roosters.
“It’s the first opportunity for our fans to see some of our new players in the Red V, and we’re looking forward to seeing our fans fill the stands with red and white for the first time this year.”
