Journey to Lebanon through Zeina Kara Ali's art in Arches Memory exhibition

03/06/2024

Experience the vibrant world of Lebanese architecture and culture through Zeina Kara Ali's latest exhibition, Arches Memory, at the Dragon’s Lair Gallery in Hurstville Museum & Gallery from June 22.

This exhibition invites audiences to immerse themselves in the colourful and authentic legacy of traditional Lebanese houses.

Zeina Kara Ali, an artist deeply inspired by her childhood home in Lebanon, captures her memories and the unique character of Lebanese towns and structures, through her rich and vivid paintings.

Arches Memory reflects the artist’s nostalgia and longing for her homeland since her last visit in 2021.

"I carry the details of these places in my memory, and I attempt to bring them into reality through my work, amalgamating the old with the new through capturing a passage in time with characteristics of the present," Zeina explains.

Georges River Council Mayor Sam Elmir expressed his excitement about the exhibition.

Arches Memory is more than an exhibition; it is a personal journey through Zeina’s lens, blending her travel experiences with her artistic interpretations.

“Her work resonates on a personal level, inviting viewers to share in her nostalgia and appreciation for Lebanese heritage.”

The official exhibition opening is on Sunday 23 June at 2.30pm. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.

Bookings are essential. Book via the Arches Memory Exhibition Opening page or call Hurstville Museum & Gallery on (02) 9330 6444.
