Enhancing Comfort and Accessibility: Marana Auditorium Upgrade

Georges River Council is excited to announce that the Marana Auditorium at the Hurstville Entertainment Centre will be closing for a major upgrade from 1 January to 31 March 2026.
 
The Marana Auditorium is Council’s biggest and most flexible venue for hire. This upgrade will make the space better for performers and audiences, with improvements to comfort, safety, and accessibility.
 
Upgrades will include:

  • New sprung floor in the main hall.

  • New stage flooring.

  • Stage extended over the orchestra pit.

  • New side-stage stairs and a foldable wheelchair lift.

  • Tactile indicators on stage stairs for safety.

  • A fully accessible ramp at the back of the stage.

  • New seating.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “The Marana Auditorium has been a special place for our community for many years. This upgrade will make it even better for everyone to enjoy.”

Important information:

  • Closure dates: 1 January – 31 March 2026

  • The Hurstville Entertainment Centre’s Civic Theatre will stay open during this time

  • Other Council venues are available for hire during this time.
