DJing has never been easier! Scratch that creative itch and learn to DJ with Georges River Libraries. Music professional Neil will lead you through all the tools and techniques you need to get mixing and create your own sound.
 
In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to use the essential equipment every DJ needs including controllers, mixers, headphones and easy-to-use software.

  • To load tracks, cue music and get ready for transitions.

  • Basic techniques such as beat counting and mixing.

  • How to use music structure, identify song parts, use EQ and be introduced to simple effects.

  • To put it all into practice with hands-on exercises using dance music.

No prior experience is required – just bring your personal device (mobile, laptop, or tablet) and headphones and get ready to start your DJing journey!

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.

  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.

About the Facilitator:
Neil Ismail is a creative professional with over 15 years of experience in music production, video production, and storytelling. He has mentored aspiring DJs and producers as the former head instructor at DJ Warehouse Sydney, with many of his students achieving successful careers.
