Echoes in Clay: Storytelling and Belonging (Council Led Event)
18/03/2025 - Hurstville Museum and Gallery.
To celebrate Harmony Week and the International Day of the Elimination of Racism, Georges River Council have initiated the Echoes in Clay: Storytelling and Belonging project, in partnership with Advance Diversity Services.
Echoes in Clay: Storytelling and Belonging is a project that aims to facilitate connections between residents within the Georges River community, and the positive impact each person can have on others, even in a small way.
Through the creation of a unique clay artwork, participants are encouraged to reflect and share their own stories about positive connections to the area. Participants will be supported to use art to capture memories and feelings that these stories evoke.
At the end of the workshop, each participant will have the option of offering their completed artwork to a randomly selected member of the community. In this way, each story will continue to be shared, and others will be encouraged to tell their stories.
Workshop Includes:
-
Skilled facilitator will guide you through the process of story-telling through art.
-
Demonstration and hands-on support to explore different clay-shaping techniques.
-
Additional mixed media materials (including organic materials).
-
Option to bring a small personal object to be integrated into your artwork.
-
Digital album – each artwork will be photographed and added to a digital album that is available online. This ongoing collection of artworks will encourage people to share their stories and promote acts of kindness in the local community.
-
Light refreshments will be provided.
