School Holiday Workshop: Local Stories Zine Making Workshop

This is a Council led event.

23/04/2025 - Penshurst Library

To kick off the Australian Heritage Festival we’re inviting you to unearth your own stories using zines. Learn how to explore your local stories and ways you can express them through writing, comics, collage, and drawing. In this workshop you will learn what a zine is and how they can be used to tell stories. Participants will make a collaborative zine with others, and then make their own zine telling their stories.

Participants will have the opportunity to make photocopies of their zines to share with others and donate a copy to the Georges River Libraries local studies collection.

This workshop is suitable for young people 15-18 years old with an interest in art, history and storytelling.

About the Australian Heritage Festival
The Australian Heritage Festival runs from Friday 18 April – Sunday 18 May. This year’s theme is Unearthed – revealing the past, bringing to light lesser-known histories and stories, and unearthing knowledge to empower younger generations as custodians of culture and tradition.

About the Facilitator
This session will be facilitated by B, from SydZU. B has been making zines for over 15 years and has an extensive collection of zines she’s excited to share at the workshop.
