Makers & Manufacturers: The industrial history of St George highlights the untold stories of the industrial history of the St George region. Using historical material from the Hurstville Museum & Gallery, and loaned items from public and private collections. The exhibition sheds light on little known aspects of the local economic and business history from the early 19th century through to the 1970s.

This project is supported by Create NSW's Cultural Grant Program. A devolved funding program run by The Royal Australian Historical Society for the NSW Government.

Official opening - Makers & Manufacturers: the industrial history of St George

Makers & Manufacturers Collage Workshop (Sold out)

Explore the industrial history of St. George while creating unique collages in this hands-on workshop with guidance from Kubi Vasak, an experienced collage artist from Sydney Collage Society. This event is for adults only.

This is a free, drop-in activity during the hours specified above. All are welcome, no bookings required. Please note that the activity is available on provided dates only, with a break from 12:00 – 12:30pm, and will run while materials last.

Hand Drawing Glass Workshop (Sold out)

Three small glass cups with painted illustrations.
Be inspired by the Makes & Manufacturers exhibition and learn the technique of hand-drawing on glass. At the end of this workshop, you will take home your very own decorated 280ml glass!

  • For adults: Enjoy a guided tour of the Makers & Manufacturers exhibition or try your hand at making butter with Dr. Jacqui Newling in a fun, interactive workshop.
  • For the whole family: Embark on a family activity trail and become a detective of local history, or enjoy free drop-in activities, including creating your own leather keyring or exploring your artistic side with two exciting art activities.

Drypoint Etching for Beginners

Join artist Heather Davidson to learn the basics of drypoint etching and explore the Makers & Manufacturers exhibition. In this two-night course, participants will create their own drypoint etching over two consecutive Monday evenings.
