Leather key ring (Council Led Event)

18/01/2025 - Hurstville Museum & Gallery.

Explore the Makers & Manufacturers exhibition and create a leather key ring to take home!

Did you know that during the early 20th century, boot and shoemaking industries were important in Australia? By the 1870s, New South Wales was producing 15,000 pairs a week!

Join us for a free, drop-in activity where you’ll engage one-on-one with Jasmine, our expert leather volunteer. She’ll guide you through the process of crafting your key ring while taking inspiration from the exhibition.

Makers & Manufacturers: The industrial history of St George will be on display until Sunday 11 May 2025. It highlights the untold stories of the industrial history of the St George region. Using historical material from the Hurstville Museum & Gallery, and loaned items from public and private collections. The exhibition sheds light on little known aspects of the local economic and business history from the early 19th century through to the 1970s.

Please note that the activity is available on provided dates only, with a break from 12.00pm – 12.30pm. The session will run while materials last.
