After School Series: Biotechnology for Beginners (Council Led Event)
South Hurstville Library.
12/02/2025 - 05/03/2025
Biotechnology is the use of living organisms to make or modify products for specific use. It is mainly used in agriculture, food science, and medicine. This workshop series will allow learners to apply biotechnology and see how it is used through various hands-on applications. This includes food production, fermentation, plant cloning and biohacking.
In these workshops you will:
- Build your own bioreactor.
- Learn about micro-cloning.
- Understand how one of the world’s oldest industries started and why we still use them today.
This fun and engaging four-week program will allow children to learn the foundations of Biotechnology. Please note this is the same workshop series that has previously run at Hurstville, Oatley and Clive James Library, Kogarah.
This workshop is suitable for young people age 10 - 15 years old with an interest in biotechnology.
