Notice of Adoption: Amendment No.5 to the GRDCP 2021 - Subdivision, lot consolidation and boundary adjustment controls

Public Notices 29/02/2024

Council at its meeting on Monday 26 February 2024 resolved to adopt Amendment No.5 to the Georges River Development Control Plan (GRDCP) 2021, and in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the related Regulation.

The objective of the proposed amendments is to insert new guideline statements for each Heritage Conservation Area (HCA) that would apply to any future development in a HCA, including seniors housing, as currently, there is little guidance on subdivision or lot consolidation in the GRDCP 2021. The GRDCP amendment also states that subdivision, lot consolidation or boundary adjustments within the HCAs will not generally be considered appropriate or acceptable, as the established subdivision pattern is a primary characteristic that defines and contributes to the significance of the HCA.

Amendment No.5 to the GRDCP will come into effect on Wednesday 13 March 2024. For administrative purposes, the subject amendment will be the fourth amendment to the GRDCP despite being named “Amendment No.5”. All development applications submitted before Wednesday 13 March 2024 will be determined as if the subject amendment had not commenced.
