Knitters' Guild NSW - Southern Group


Spotlight Display
July 2024 – December 2024.

The Knitters’ Guild is a not-for-profit organisation promoting and encouraging the skills of knitting and crocheting amongst its members and the wider community for over 30 years. 

This display showcases knitted and crocheted works by local members of the Knitters’ Guild’s Southern Group. This group meets regularly on the first Saturday of the month at the Kogarah Storehouse, 18 Gray Street, Kogarah, and welcomes visitors to attend two meetings before they join as a member. Items in the Spotlight Display include:

  • Chevron mittens and cable knit beanie (wool) by Gemma Lawrence.

  • Magenta beanie (superwash merino) by Sue Sharpe.

  • Beryl’s Bears (acrylic, nylon) by Beryl Mercieca.

    • ​​​These bears have been knitted for the NSW Ambulance Service. Beryl and others have knitted hundreds of bears over the Group’s 35 year history.

  • Shawlette, with lace stripes (wool) by Gail Clark. 

  • Crochet doll dress, beret and bag as well as crochet baby doll outfit, including bonnet and booties (cotton) by Robin Stock.

  • Rainbow Crochet Blanket (Awarded Third Prize at the 2022 Sydney Royal Easter Show) (cotton) and crochet lace shawl (Awarded Highly Commended Prize at the 2023 Sydney Royal Easter Show) (viscose and merino blend) by Karen Gaskell.

  • Frilled neck lizard and fish tea cosies by Barbara Horsely.
