School Holiday High School Student Support - English Marker 'Speed Dating' (Council Led Event)

09/07/2024 - Clive James Library, Kogarah.

Unlock the secrets to elevating your essays with personalised feedback from expert English tutors, learn about library eResources, or make mindful crafts to create and take in our zero pressure chill-out zone!

Are you a high school student feeling lost about how to improve your essays? Struggling to break above the class average? Or maybe you need practical pointers on how to elevate your writing to new heights? Look no further!

Georges River Libraries has partnered with OpenWisdom to bring you Marker 'Speed Dating' at Clive James Library, Kogarah, and Hurstville Library during the upcoming July school holidays.

These events give you the unique chance to bring your paragraphs, essays or creative writing pieces to seasoned English tutors who have a proven track record of helping students excel in their English studies.

Just three easy steps to getting feedback on your work:
Step 1: Register
Step 2: Check-in on the day
Step 3: Bring your work and spend 10 minutes with each of our expert English tutors who will provide you with a mark, grade and 4-5 points of actionable feedback which you can apply straight away to boost your results.

Remember to bring a physical or digital copy of your written response for the tutors to read and mark. We will not be accepting files on USB's - please bring your own device to show your work to the tutor.

From sharpening your essay structure to elevating your written expression, tightening your textual analysis, and ensuring your responses effectively address the question, this free event is the perfect way to maximise your marks over the holidays in the lead up to Term 3 and 4 exams.

Take full advantage of this opportunity by visiting as many markers as you wish throughout the two-hour session and gather a wealth of feedback and insights to enhance your skills.

A dedicated study area will remain open to all registered attendees, so you can sit down and apply your feedback right away during the event. Library staff will also be around to explain how our free digital resources can help your study, and a zero pressure chill-out zone will offer free mindful crafts to create and take for times of overwhelm.

This event is completely free for all students in Years 7-12 to attend and there is no set timeslot for your writing evaluation or mindful crafting. However, register now to secure access to our expert English tutors. Feel free to bring your friends and drop in at any time during the event to receive personalised feedback.
