October Pride Book Club (Council Led Event)

17/10/2024 - Clive James Library and Service Centre

Join us for the October Pride Book Club facilitated by queer author Erin Gough. This Pride Book Club will be centred on the theme ‘Friends to Lovers’.

You will be encouraged to think about the concepts and different parameters of friendship and love. ‘Friends to Lovers’ is a popular theme in LGBTQIA+ writing and attendees are encouraged to read a text from the Georges River Libraries Pride Collection that uses this theme in an innovative way.

The Pride Book Club aims to promote books and graphic novels by LGBTQIA+ authors; provide an opportunity to discuss LGBTQIA+ stories, perspectives, and themes; and provide a supportive and inclusive environment that is open to everyone.

About the facilitator:
Erin Gough is a fiction writer living in Gadigal land Sydney, whose award-winning work has been published globally. She is the author of three books for young adults: The Flywheel, which won the Ampersand Prize, Amelia Westlake, winner of the Readings Young Adult Book Prize and the NSW Premier’s Ethel Turner Prize for Young Adult Fiction, and Into the Mouth of the Wolf, due for release in May 2024. Erin’s novella for adults, Distance, was a winner of the Griffith Review Novella Project. Her short fiction has been published in many journals and anthologies, including Kindred: 12 Queer #LoveOzYA Stories, The Age and Best Australian Stories. Erin’s writing navigates contemporary themes with lyricism, humour and charm.
