Art Exhibition: Revisited - Paintings by John Poole (Council Led Event)

Clive James Library and Service Centre.
11/07/2024 - 18/08/2024

Revisit locales around the world with paintings by John Poole.

About the Exhibition
Revisit locales around the world with paintings by John Poole. Local artist John Poole has drawn on memories, sketches, and photos to create an exhibition of paintings recollecting places he’d like to visit again.

During our collective enforced non-travel period, John started thinking about how lucky he had been to explore.

To recollect some of his favourite destinations, he created paintings of scenes of places he wanted to revisit. It was surprising what strong memories the painting process bought back. John worked from sketches, watercolours, and photos from these trips to create the works in this exhibition.

This exhibition covers destinations in Asia, Europe, The Americas, Africa and Australia as well as scenes from our local St George Area and his imagination (a convenient destination).

About the Artist
John Poole is a self taught local artist who doesn't restrict himself in media and styles. He enjoys painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour and has an affinity for capturing moments from places he has been lucky enough to travel to. Paintings are often developed from plein air sketches done in the field. Whilst he enjoys contemporary realism and impressionism he will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually his main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
