School Holiday Activity: Stop-Motion Animation (Council Led Event)
23/01/2025 - Hurstville Library
Join us for a school holiday workshop where you'll learn the art of stop-motion animation and how to bring inanimate objects to life.
From basic techniques and planning, through to assembling your animation in video editing software, you'll learn everything you need to know to create your own stop-motion animation at home. With the help of our experienced facilitator, Will Chittick, you could create the next Gumby or Shaun the Sheep!
No previous experience in photography or video editing is required, and all materials and equipment will be provided.
Parents are encouraged to remain for the duration of the program to participate along with their child. Please note any children under the age of 10 must have a parent or guardian to supervise and assist.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Basic techniques in making stop-motion, including making puppets from clay.
- How to plan your video.
- How to use a tripod.
- How to edit photographs together in Light-room and Davinci resolve.
- How to export a video file with your results.
About the Facilitator:
Will Chittick has worked professionally as a photographer since 2013 and has contributed stop-motion animation to several music videos. He explains technical concepts in an approachable way and enjoys experimenting with new techniques and sharing his knowledge with emerging creators.
